Dog crates are wonderful things when used correctly. It is a safe place for a puppy if it can not be supervised. It is important to make the crate a wonderful place for the puppy. Throw treats inside and let the puppy walk into get them and walk back out. It is a place where the puppy can go and feel safe. Therefore it is important that the crate be strictly the puppys' domain. Children should not be allowed inside the crate or play on it. The puppy can go in the crate and be left alone to take a nap or chew on a dog toy. In the begining it is important for potty training, that the puppy have enough room to stand up and turn around. Generally a dog will not soil its bed if taken out frequently. Make sure the crate grows with the puppy. Never use the crate as punishment. if you have any questions please feel free to call me.
