Cats are a little more self suffient than dogs. So we are able to leave them alone for longer periods. When you are away on vacation your pet sitter should stop by at least every other day. They need fresh water and their box cleaned. Some people prefer everyday just to keep an eye on things. One never knows when a cat could knock something over on itself, or fall and get stuck behind something. Multiple cats will keep each other company but if you have only one cat it would be a good idea to turn a radio on. Even setting your alarm clock to music will bring some noise in the house for about an hour every day. Be cautious of leaving some toys or string for your cat. Strings can get wrapped around them and tangled, choking is a real possiblity. Lots of people tell me- You will never see my cat, he/she is afraid of people. More times than not the cat will come out to see who is there, sitting real quiet usually brings them out to smell who was in the house. Most of our feline clients love to come out and say hello. There may be treats, some brushing, special lovin and pets, or even a new toy to play with. Most cats follow us around to make sure all the chores are done correctly!
