I love, love, love chocolate! If it's dipped in Chocolate I will most likely want to eat it BUT since I do have to eat a special diet I don't buy chocolate covered anything. I just do it myself! Just thought I'd give you a couple of tips for chocolate dipping:
1) When melting chocolate use the double boiler method. Heat about 2 inches of water to boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat and add your chocolate to the double boiler pot that sits on top or a glass bowl that fits secure but a tad above the water in the saucepan. Either way chocolate will melt the same.
2) Add 2 tablespoons of Crisco shortening to the chocolate for a thinner and glossier finish.
3) Use a toothpick to dip your fruit or marshmallows in the chocolate and give each piece a quick swirl with your wrist to get excess chocolate off.
4) I like to dip the large marshmallows in sprinkles then place the marshmallows or fruit on a wax paper lined cookie sheet.
5) if you want to use a different melted chocolate for added flavor or decoration follow same steps for melting. Let it cool slightly and spoon it into a zipper storage bag and snip a bottom corner of the bag and drizzle over fruit or even pretzels.
Refrigerate any chocolate covered fruit but store pretzels or marshmallows in in a container in a cool spot.
