Queen Anne’s County Department of Community Services, Area Agency on Aging invite the public of all ages to join in the celebration of Older Americans Month at its’ 13th Annual Senior Summit and Picnic Friday May 15, 2015.
The festivities take place 9 am – 2 pm at Queen Anne’s County 4-H Park, Centreville. Admission and parking are free; guests are asked to donate a non-perishable food item for a chance to win a prize. Food donations will benefit a local food bank. A catered lunch of Pit Beef Sandwich, Chips, and Ice Cream dessert will be available for purchase. Morning coffee and pastries are included for those who purchase the $7 lunch ticket. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Queen Anne’s County Senior Centers or at the 4-H Park during the event.
Highlights of this year’s celebration include musical entertainment by DJ Jennifer Tunis, a trivia booth with chances to win prizes, live radio broadcast by 96.7 WCEI, more than 60 vendors offering valuable information and give-aways, a Photo Booth, and Classic Cars on display. There will be dance workshops, pet visits with Animal Welfare League, Scales & Tales exhibit, 50 / 50 Raffle, prize drawings and more.
In anticipation of the Senior Summit a Spirit Week has been planned. Sponsors, Vendors, Senior Centers, and Older Americans everywhere are invited to show their Senior Spirit by participating in this week long event. Monday May 11 is Pajama Day; your dream has come true, spend the day in your pajamas! Tuesday May 12 is Crazy Hair / Hat Day; take your pick or be really crazy and wear them both! Wednesday May 13 is Decades Day; dress to impress with the styles of your favorite decade! Thursday May 14 is Mix Match Day; polka dots, stripes and everything nice! Friday May 15 is Red, White and Blue Day, the theme of the 2015 Senior Summit and Picnic! Participants are encouraged to dress up wherever they may be throughout Spirit Week; and we look forward to seeing all the patriotic displays at the 4-H Park on May 15th.
