Basic buttercream Easter eggs....
1 lb. Powdered sugar 1 stick butter, softened 1 tsp. Vanilla 1 1/2 tsp. Milk 1 bag chocolate chips, semisweet, milk or dark 1-2 tbsp. Crisco
Mix first four ingredients together with hands. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. With hands roll eggs into size of your choice and place on the lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate at least one hour before dipping eggs into melted chocolate.
When ready to coat eggs, melt chocolate and Crisco in a double broiler. Remove eggs from refrigerator and depending on size dip them with a toothpick or by using a candy dipping tool. You can also pour the chocolate over top of the eggs but first place the eggs on a metal rack like a cooling rack for cookies.
Refrigerate to harden chocolate.
*To make cherry eggs, thoroughly drain a small jar of maraschino cherries and chop. Mix in the chopped cherries with your hands before forming them into eggs. If mixture is too wet add more powdered sugar a little at a time.
**To make coconut eggs add 1 - 1 1/2 c. Of flake coconut to the mixture with hands.
