Hey all you waterfront homeowners - don't forget to register you pots - crab pots that is. New crabbing regulations that went into effect on January 1 will effect all waterfront homeowners this crabbing season. Here is the gist... As of January 1, 2014 all Maryland waterfront property owners, lessees or tenants must register their crab pots with DNR so that crab biologists and analysts can get a better indication of this crabbing activity. DNR is doing this because it claims to need this data in order to assess the harvest better. Good news is that for now...this registration is free of charge. To check out more about this new regulation click here. Also, reply to this post - what do you think of this new regulation? Good, bad, indifferent?

Wow, I don't think it's good or bad but definitely indifferent. How is the word getting out to the property owners or renters?

Right now I'm not seeing anything in the way of plans for formal notification. I am thinking maybe something in the county tax bill when they are sent. If I can find out I will post back to this thread.
