I personally feel that it's totally worth my time! I also know my family agrees. I do not can as much as I would like to but I do as much as I can. I also do what is cost worthy. I try to find the canning jars on sale or at yard sales and I am fortunate enough to have been given my grandmother's canning books and supplies she used. I grow the tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. My family loves to pick strawberries with me and apples too. Last weekend in Lancaster I got a great deal on apples so Tuesday was cinnamon applesauce canning day. My favorite things to can are applesauce, strawberry jam, tomato sauce, pickles and pepper relish. This year I plan to add beets, strawberry rhubarb jam and regular applesauce since the batch I just made Tuesday was cinnamon.
Do you like to can? If so what do you can? Have any favorites or secret tips? How about do you use an old fashioned canning pot with insert or a pressure cooker? I use the old fashioned canning pot and insert myself.
