Natural Remedies for Diarrhea Coming up with different topics is becoming harder and harder, so I thought I would write about the questions we've been asked over the years. We had a client who consistently had diarrhea. It was even worse when he was on an antibiotic. Taking pills or other medicine for diarrhea can sometimes cause even more problems with the digestive tract. Some natural remedies for diarrhea are: 1. Taking a probiotic. Probiotics add good bacteria necessary for the digestive system, which diarrhea, especially when taking an antibiotic, can be depleted from the body. 2. Eating a BRAT Diet. BRAT stands for bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast. These foods are considered "binding foods." This diet is good for those who suffer from an upset stomach or diarrhea. 3. Verifying lactose intolerance. As we age, sometimes our body can no longer handle foods that we once could. Changing the diet and avoiding dairy or drinking and eating lactose intolerant foods can help.
