Treatments for Fibromyalgia In this post, I'm going to discuss natural treatments for fibromyalgia. A doctor may prescribe sleep aids, antidepressants, pain killers etc, but since I'm not a doctor, I'm not going to delve into that area. Natural treatments include: 1. Regular exercise such as stretching or low impact aerobics. Although pain may occur, it should dissipate shortly after exercise and help in the long run. 2. Relaxation techniques such as yoga or breathing work to counteract the stress and/or pain. 3. Massage or even acupuncture. 4. Regular/routine sleeping habits. 5. Eliminate polyunsaturated vegetable oils, margarine, vegetable shortening, all partially hydrogenated oils, and all foods (such as deep-fried foods) that might contain trans-fatty acids. Reading a labels is a must since some of these products are in a lot of the foods we eat. 6. Eat organic fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains, such as rice, oats, quinoa etc. 7. Eating turmeric or ginger or taking as a supplement can help reduce inflammation. Don't expect immediate results, it may take a day or two of taking the supplements before relief sets in. 8. Take magnesium and calcium daily as combined they are a great muscle reliever. And as always, try to avoid caffeine, alcohol and cigarettes etc. as all can aggravate any pain and stress that you are dealing with. YourHomeCompanion.com
