Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Saint Patrick’s Day was established in Ireland to celebrate the Patron of Saint, St Patrick. Today it is widely celebrated regardless of one’s heritage. If you are entertaining this St. Patrick’s Day consider your menu, dress code and drinks. For food serve a traditional Irish menu: corned beef and cabbage (American-Irish), potatoes, lamb stew and maybe some alternatives for your guests who prefer something else. For the dress code – go GREEN! Ask guests to wear something green, even if it is just their socks. Have items such as buttons, bows, hats available in case someone forgets. Finally drinks (or should I just say beer). Many people like to dye their beer green. Just remember to start with a light colored ale and try not to use too much food coloring or everyone’s teeth will be green.
