Postal Road Utility Project in Chester Slated for ConstructionThe installation of replacement sewer lines and new water lines in Chester may cause some traffic delays beginning March 17. The project area includes Postal Road and nearby Main Street, also known as Route 18 in Chester. After completion of the utility project the roads will be repaved. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of August. To keep residents and businesses abreast of construction activities, schedule changes and timing of lane closures, a dedicated webpage will be updated periodically which can be found on the County’s Homepage, at www.qac.org. According to Queen Anne’s County Chief Sanitary Engineer Alan L. Quimby, the project consists of replacing 3,500 linear feet of sewer transmission pipe that lies under Route 18 and Postal Road, beginning at the Safeway Store and extending west to Cox Neck Road. In addition, the project will extend the water main from its current endpoint midway down Postal Road 1,800 lineal feet east to the intersection of Route 18 and Dominion Road. Water services connection points for properties along the new water main segment will also be installed as part of the project. For more information contact Alan Quimby at 410-643-3535.
