CBEC hosts “Environmentally Speaking” ProgramsThe Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (CBEC) located in Grasonville, MD scheduled a series of speakers who will address issues related to the Bay. During these one-hour presentations on varied topics the audience will be entertained and enlightened on the subject. There will be an opportunity for a question-answer segment. The cost for attending is $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Light fare will be provided. All presentations will start at 7:00 pm, and will be held at CBEC in Grasonville. Check CBEC’s website www.bayrestoration.org for directions and more information. The first speaker was Will Hemsley, who presented a video of “Watermen and the Bay.” He also discussed the past, present and future repercussions of the industry. Will, who is a talented painter and sculptor, exhibited art work based on his experiences as a waterman working the Eastern Shore. His first-hand experience working on the Bay coupled with his eye for the aesthetics offered an interesting perspective for the audience. The remaining speakers include: “Farmers and the Bay”, Paul Spies, February 19th, 2014.“The Return of the Osprey, a Symbol of the Bay”, Judy Wink, March 19th, 2014.“Charles Darwin: Life As a Naturalist”, Sandra Herbert, April 16th, 2014.“What I Want To Do When I Grow Up,” Captain David O’Neill and Christine O’Neill, May 21st, 2014.
