When buying a used vehicle from a private party in Maryland, be certain that the Maryland title has no lien on it and THAT YOU ARE BUYING THE VEHICLE FROM THE PERSON WHOSE NAME IS ON THE FRONT OF THE TITLE AS THE OWNER. For 2008 model year and newer you must also use a Maryland Bill of Sale and have it notarized. Naturally, it's always better to buy a vehicle that has a freshly dated Inspection Certificate; that way you won't have to worry about repairs that may be needed.
