Learn to feel better about yourself
To be in better control of your health
Help you do the things you want to do in life
There are 23.6 million diabetics in the US or approximately 8% of the population. Diabetes is associated with an increased risk for a number of serious, sometime life-threatening complications. Good diabetes control can help reduce your risk.
Each of us decides how we are going to manage. We can choose to do nothing and gradually lose the ability to do the things we want. OR we can work actively to manage our diabetes and prevent or postpone complications and continue to lead a healthy happy life. We are faced with new challenges, limitations, unfamiliar circumstances and maybe new routines that could include more doctor visits, medications, emotions, and issues in everyday living.
The Healthy Living with Diabetes program is a wonderful opportunity to help us deal with diabetes or to learn to help a family member or friend.
Healthy Living is a very interactive and class participants get information, learn new skills, and share and learn from each other.
Here are a few of the topics included in the workshop:
Monitoring your blood sugar
Nutrition and healthy eating
How to begin a fitness program and the importance of exercise
Stress management
Relaxation techniques
Difficult emotions
Foot care
And much, much more!!!
This workshop is sponsored by MAC, Inc., Salisbury, MD and was developed by Stanford Patient Education Center. This program is taught worldwide.
